I am an educator and researcher with K-12 (5+ years) and college/university teaching experience (4+ years). I am certified to teach Spanish (P-12), English as a Second Language (P-12), English (5-12), social studies (5-12) biological sciences (5-12), and mathematics (5-9). I hold a Supervisor of Instruction certification. At the college level I am qualified to teach education, leadership, research methods, public health, epidemiology, environmental science, biological sciences, and statistics. I am bilingual (English/Spanish).

I have been involved in public health-related research projects related to infectious disease, obesity and the built environment, occupational health indicators, and environmental health indicators. My most recent research used epidemiology tools and biostatistical analyses to examine the relationship between teacher burnout and teacher mindfulness.

I earned my EdD from University of the Cumberlands. My dissertation research focused on mindfulness and burnout among teachers in Eastern Kentucky. I have an MAT (Spanish P-12) from Morehead State University, an MPH from East Carolina University, a BA in biology and Spanish from Emory & Henry College, and additional graduate hours in environmental science, public health, Spanish, and education. I also have a TESOL certificate from Arizona State University.

I currently teach high school Spanish in Eastern Kentucky. I taught undergraduate science and public health courses at East Tennessee State University, served as teaching assistant (public health) at East Carolina University, and served as a teaching assistant/lab instructor (biology, Spanish) at Emory & Henry College. I lived (and studied) in Mexico for two summers and have traveled extensively throughout the country. I have also studied Spanish language in the Dominican Republic and Spain and Hispanic culture in Puerto Rico and Colombia.
